Arnold Jones, Sr.

WELLSVILLE - Arnold Jones, Sr., 71, of Wellsville, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016, at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 21, 1944, in Tuskegee, AL, the son of the late Naomi (Moore) and Roosevelt Jones, Sr. In addition to his parents, Arnold was preceded in death by one son: Jerome Goobsy; two sisters: Daisy Macon and Lucretia Stephenson; and three brothers: Walter Jones, John H. Jones, and Roosevelt Jones, Jr.

Arnold attended Jones High School in Aliquippa. He was employed for forty-six years as a furnace operator for Babcock and Wilcox as well as WhemCo Foundry. Arnold enjoyed fishing, gardening, working on cars, and Golden Glove boxing.

He will be deeply missed by his lifetime partner, Fannie Sloan; four daughters: Kelly Guilford of Beaver Falls, PA, Angel Jones of New Castle, PA, Shana Jones of New Castle, PA, and Shavonna Sloan-Ash and her husband, David, of Wellsville; three sons: Shaye Jones of New Castle, PA, Arnold Jones, Jr. of New Castle, PA, and Shaun Sloan of Wellsville; one step-son: Jarrell Sloan of Wellsville; and one sister: Etta Simmons of New Jersey. Arnold is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, February 19, 2016, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Renfroe of Lee's Chapel AME Church officiating.

Friends may call one hour to the service on Friday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
