Benjamin H. Hipsley, Jr.

WELLSVILLE - Benjamin H. Hipsley, Jr., 82, of Wellsville, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018, in the emergency room at East Liverpool City Hospital.

He was born December 1, 1935, in Wellsville, the son of the late Ann (Costello) and Benjamin H. Hipsley, Sr. In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his brother, John Hipsley.

Ben graduated from Wellsville High School and served in the United States Army. He operated automotive dealerships in the tri-state area. He was a musician and entertainer, and he headlined at many venues including The Sahara in Las Vegas and Waterford Park, producing and recording several records and LPs. In his spare time Ben was an artist, an avid fisherman, an inventor, and brilliant with numbers. He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville where he also served as an usher.

Survivors include his wife, Frances "Fran" (Cataldo) Hipsley, whom he married May 5, 1956; two daughters: Penny J. Traina of East Liverpool and Bunny AnnMarie Hipsley of Silver Lake, OH; and two sons: Benjamin Rick Hipsley of Wellsville and Victor F. Hipsley and his wife, Michelle, of Columbus, OH. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Nicole Turturice, Rick Hipsley, Santino Hipsley, Michael Hipsley, Katherine Hipsley, Alfonso Traina, Anthony Traina, Cameron Sikorski, Angelina Hipsley, and Roman Hipsley; and five great-grandchildren: Joey Turturice, Jeorgia Turturice, Juliana Turturice, Madden Hipsley, and Sofia Frances Traina.

The Catholic Funeral Rites will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Wassie of St. George Parish presiding. The Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors.

Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
