Betty Leatherberry

WELLSVILLE - Betty Leatherberry, 101, of Wellsville, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Calcutta Health Care Center.

She was born July 16, 1915, in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Charles and Margurite (Fairman) McCombs. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death on March 15, 1956, by her husband, Ernest Leatherberry, whom she married June 10, 1936. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Congrove; her sister, Fay Wintle; and her brother, William McCombs.

Betty graduated from Wellsville High School in 1934. She was employed for thirty-six years as a medical receptionist for Dr. Janis Lauva before retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Lady Elks Lodge 1040 and a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville.

Survivors include one son: E.J. "Bud" Leatherberry of Florida; seven grandchildren to whom she was affectionately known as "Nana": Lynn Henderson, Lana Congrove, Kara Pierson, and Gregg Congrove, all of Wellsville, Lisa Cochran of Calcutta, Kendra Pibbott, and Danien Semach. Also surviving are twenty-three great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

Catholic Funeral Rites will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, March 24, 2017, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Betty's cousin, Reverened Dan Fickes, presiding.

Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.

Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Friday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
