Betty Lou Oliver, age 91, of Poland, Ohio passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, at

Masternick Memorial after a short illness. Betty was born in Canton, Ohio to Henry and

Erma Zimmerman and was subsequently adopted by her aunt and uncle, Arthur and Mindy

Best upon her mother's passing. She married Dale W. Oliver on June 26, 1954, and

celebrated 68 years of marriage prior to his passing in February 2023.

Betty lived in Marietta, Ohio after her adoption and graduated from Marietta High School.

She and Dale moved to Youngstown after their marriage and his discharge from the US

Army. They resided in New Middletown and shortly after moved to Springfield Township in

1970 where she has maintained residence since. In addition to being a housewife she was

always working to help the family. She was a long time Avon Lady in New Middletown and

operated a dog grooming business out of her home. She and Dale also spent many years as

vendors at Shaker Woods Festival, where they displayed and sold their woodcrafts and art.

Betty was a devoted member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima, Ohio.

She served many years on several committees and was always involved in fundraising for

charitable causes. Community service was a central part of Dale and Betty's lives. In

addition to their devotion to their church and the many volunteer activities there, they were

very dedicated to serving those in need. They volunteered much of their spare time to the

South Range Council of Church and Community, where they gathered and packed weekly

food boxes for those in need. Her passion for helping the less fortunate was a major theme

in her life.

Betty was very dedicated to her family and spent countless hours hosting family and

friends. She is survived by her three children Kevin (Wendy) Oliver of Winston Salem, NC,

Julie Johnson of Poland, OH and Joyce (Dr. Ronald) Rogers of Petersburg, OH. She also

leaves her sister-in-law, Thelma Oliver of Devola, OH, brother-in-law Harold D. Oliver

(Shirley) Oliver of North Jackson, OH and her sister Marylin Hornburg of Plantation, FL. She

is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Kevin (Holly) Oliver Jr. of Tobaccoville, NC, Kyle

(Amy) Oliver of St. Louis, MO, Jennifer (Christoph) Martin of Columbiana, OH, Bobby

(Ashley) Rogers of New Middletown, OH, Dr. Kallie (Austin) Fischer of St. Charles, MO,

Ronald Jr. (Julianna) Rogers of New Springfield, OH, Brad (Katie) Johnson of Youngstown,

OH, and Chris (Elle) Johnson of Escondido, CA; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to spending time with her family and volunteering at the church and in the

community, Betty loved to paint, embroider, can vegetables from the garden, and play

pinochle or euchre whenever the opportunity presented itself. She was always planning family

holiday gatherings, picnics and cookouts in the summer, and always opened her home to

family and friends.

Betty will be missed by her family and friends and will be remembered as a devoted mother,

grandmother, and great grandmother, as well as a valuable member of the community. The

family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and Masternick Memorial facility for all their

dedicated and kind care.

Friends and family are invited to call on Monday, December 30th, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at

Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima, Ohio. A service will follow at 12:00 pm. In

Council of Church and Community, to help continue her food mission in our community.
