Blanche A. Burroughs

SALINEVILLE - The angels came and took Blanche A. (Geer) Burroughs, 94, home on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, with her family by her side.

She was born on May 20, 1917, in Washington, PA., a daughter of the late Archibald and May (Parish) Geer. Blanche was the youngest of six children.

She moved to Wheeling when she was a young child and resided there until she married David Burroughs on April 14, 1940. They had four sons, David, Paul, Marvin and Gary and moved the family to Wellsville in 1948. She worked in the decorating department at the former Sterling China Company, until her retirement in 1986.

Blanche will always be missed by her son, Paul J. Burroughs and his wife Helen, of Salineville; daughter-in-law Charlene Burroughs; two granddaughters: Buffy Burroughs, of Columbus and Cheryl Seifert and her husband Jeff, of Massillon; two grandsons: David Burroughs and his wife Dawn, of Columbus and Gary Burroughs and his wife Lisa, of Ann Arbor, Michigan; four great granddaughters: Ava and Zoe Burroughs, of Columbus and Elizabeth Seifert, of Massillon; and Scarlett Burroughs, of Ann Arbor.

She will also be missed by a dear family friend, Jennifer Kuhns, of Columbus, as well as many other cherished friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Burroughs; three sons: David Lee Burroughs, Marvin Burroughs, and Gary Burroughs; one sister, Susan Clemens; and two brothers: Allen Geer and Carl Geer.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Roberts Funeral Home, with Rev. Sylvia Beard, Chaplain of Southern Hospice Care, officiating . Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park, Calcutta.

Blanche will be missed more than words can express. She leaves us with amazing memories and as better people. She will always be in our hearts.
