WELLSVILLE - Charles Henry "Chuck" Pelley, Sr., 98, of Wellsville, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at East Liverpool City Hospital.

He was born December 1, 1924, in Wellsville, the son of the late Ruth Eva (Grindle) and Emmet L. Pelley, Sr. In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by five siblings: Donna Mercer, Helen McIntosh, Colleen Rosenlieb, Robert Pelley, and Emmet L. "Pete" Pelley, Jr.

Chuck graduated from Wellsville High School in 1942, and he served in the United States Army from 1943-1946 during World War II.  He was employed as a millwright for Crucible Steel Mill before retiring in 1982. Chuck enjoyed amateur radio and led the MARS group for a few years. He was a member of the Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Crowe) Pelley, whom he married September 28, 1946; four children: Charles (Sandy) Pelley, Jr. of Salem, David (Michelle) Pelley of Geneva, OH, Jerri (Bill) Smith of Lisbon, and Terry Pelley of Wellsville; and two sisters: Rose Mary Larbig of Mentor, OH and Joann Turick of Toronto. Also surviving are eighteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A private family service was held. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville was entrusted with Chuck's arrangements.
