Charles E. "Chuck" Rodgers

WELLSVILLE - Charles E. "Chuck" Rodgers, 83, of Wellsville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.

He was born January 26, 1933, in Pine Grove Ridge, OH, the son of the late John W. and Elizabeth (Kozora) Rodgers. In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Ellen Rodgers and Betty Ann Cronin; three brothers: Elzie, James, and John Rodgers; and one granddaughter: Chelsea Lingenfelter.

Chuck graduated from Irondale High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War during which he was stationed in Germany. He had been employed for twenty-three years as a maintenance millwright in the cold strip department for the former Crucible Steel Mill, before retiring in 1982. Chuck was a member of the American Legion Post 70 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was also a private pilot and loved to fly airplanes. More than anything, Chuck loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed the memories they shared together.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Charleen "Shug" (Fultz) Rodgers, whom he married April 29, 1955; one daughter: Joni Logston and her husband, Steve, of Highlandtown; one son: Gregg Rodgers and his wife, Penny, of Wellsville; and one sister: Mildred Porter and her husband, Mark, of Pine Grove Ridge. Also surviving are two granddaughters: Tarrah (Brian) Afek and Jaime (Shawn) Barborak; three step-grandchildren: Willie, Mike, and Jessi; one great-granddaughter: Fiona; one great-grandson: Jack; and a third great-grandchild is expected in October.

The funeral service will be held at 8:00 pm Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville, with Pastor Mark Blakeley of Wellsville First Christian Church officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Chuck's name to the Chelsea Lingenfelter Memorial Golf Outing account at CFBank, 601 Main Street, Wellsville, OH 43968. All proceeds will go toward the Chelsea Lingenfelter Memorial Scholarship.
