WELLSVILLE - Christopher Andrew Shaffer, 54, of Wellsville, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

He was born March 28, 1972, in East Liverpool, the son of Larry Shaffer, Sr. of Salem and Nancy (Garey) Shaffer of Wellsville.

Chris graduated from Wellsville High School in 1990 and from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1992 with an Associate degree in graphic design. He was employed for a short time as an artist at the Homer Laughlin China Company and also at the Morning Journal before moving to Daytona Beach, FL to be the creative director for the Daytona Times. After spending many years working in different areas of advertising, Chris moved back home to Wellsville and worked at Casa De Emanuel. He was most recently employed with the Wellsville Local School District, first as a paraprofessional at Garfield Elementary and then as a custodian at the high school and middle school. Chris truly loved his job within the school system. He loved to help others and was happy to assist the teachers with anything they needed. His favorite part of his time in the schools was the interactions he had with the students. Chris loved the kids as much as they loved being around him.

His artistic ability was not only his job, but also carried over into his personal life. Chris an incredible artist, as well as a skilled musician. He could pick up any instrument and immediately make music, playing mostly by ear. Chris was also a gifted craftsman, sharing his love for woodworking by hand-carving wooden snowmen to gift to his friends and family.

Not only was Chris an artistic individual, but he also loved the outdoors. He enjoyed kayaking and fishing with his brother, Larry. He also had a green thumb and currently had several bonzai trees growing and thriving in his home. Chris was a man of varied hobbies and also had a passion for model trains. He was fond of all animals, but especially loved his dogs, Cain and Aggie, and his traveling feline companion, Cacita.

In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by his siblings: Larry (Sherie) Shaffer, Jr. of Uhrichsville, OH and Amy (Timothy) Zarlinga of Fairview Park, OH; and his nieces and nephews: Ella Shaffer of Vermont, Hannah Shaffer of Columbus, OH, and Nicholas Christopher Zarlinga of Fairview Park, OH. He is loved dearly and will be missed immensely by everyone, including his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In honoring his wishes, no services will be held.
