Clarence C. "Red" Chettle

TRINITY, Florida - Clarence C. "Red" Chettle, 89, of Trinity, Fl, formerly of Wellsville, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the Medical Center of Trinity after suddenly becoming ill.

He was born September 21, 1923, in Wellsville, the son of the late John and Verna (Ruhl) Chettle, Sr.

Red graduated from Wellsville High School in 1942 and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He owned and operated the Nationwide Insurance Agency in Wellsville before moving to Florida in 1960. There he owned and operated Snow White Roof Painting until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Norma Jean (Smith) Chettle; two daughters: Linda Rabb and Christine Rahn; and one son: Randy Chettle. Also surviving are five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by three sisters: Mary Swearingen, Dorothy Boyd, and Frances Curry; and one brother: John Chettle.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Derek Marotta officiating.

Burial will follow in Highlandtown Cemetery where the John Adams Post Honor Guard of the Salineville American Legion will accord full military honors.

Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 pm Monday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Clarence's name to the Hope United Methodist Church, 2200 Little Road, Trinity, Florida 34655.
