Clarence R. Cronin

HAMMONDSVILLE - Clarence R. Cronin, 81, of Hammondsville, died Sunday, October 19, 2014, at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born April 7, 1933, in Wellsville, the son of the late George Isaac and Roxie (Howell) Cronin.

He was preceded in death on July 3, 1990, by his wife, Edna Marie "Dee Dee" (Speedy) Cronin, whom he married June 9, 1956.

Clarence served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He was employed for thirty-two years as a wheeler for Dando Brickyard. He was most recently employed in the maintenance department for Citizens Bank, where he helped build the banks in the Salineville area. Clarence was a member of Pine Grove Church.

Survivors include three daughters: Jenny Herrick and her husband, Steve, of Hammondsville, Nola Holmes and her husband, Douglas, of Sahuarita, AZ, and Maria Polen and her husband, Fred, of Hammondsville; seven sons: Clarence "Rick" Cronin and his wife, Melinda, of Hammondsville, Randy Cronin of Hammondsville, James Cronin and his wife, Lori, of Hammondsville, Norman Cronin of Hammondsville, George Cronin and his wife, Toni, of Hammondsville, Daniel Cronin and his wife, Shawnna, of Toronto, and Benjamin Cronin and his wife, Becky, of Hammondsville; two sisters: Phemie Tullis of Florida and Shirley Downard of Richmond; and one brother: Robert Cronin of Richmond. Also surviving are twenty-nine grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Clarence was preceded in death by one sister: Paulette Patterson; three brothers: Barry Cronin, Ellis "Bud" Cronin, and Lonie Cronin; and one grandson: Isaac Cronin.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Welch of East Springfield Christ Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm today at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
