Dan L "Moe" Swartz

IRONDALE - Dan L "Moe" Swartz, 61, of Irondale, passed away at home with his wife by his side on Friday, January 23, 2015, following a brief illness.

He was born January 28, 1953, in Steubenville, the son of the late David Swartz and Margret (Yuhas) Swartz O'Tool of Hammondsville.

Dan graduated from Stanton Local High School in 1971 and was a lifelong self-employed farmer. He also worked in the maintenance department at Timet in Toronto. Dan had been an avid hunter since childhood.

Survivors include his wife and high school sweetheart, Donna Kay (Tolson) Swartz; his mother, Margret O'Tool of Hammondsville; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen and Harry Blackmon of Whitehouse, OH; his niece and nephew, Heather and Paul doForno of Chicago, IL; his nephew, David "Scooter" Swartz of Wintersville; his great-nephew, Eli Swartz of Wintersville; and his bestest buddy, Hank, who met him on the Rainbow Bridge.

In addition to his father, Dan was preceded in death by his brother, David Swartz; step-father, Donald O'Tool; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lola and Stan Tolson; and his grandparents who raised him, Ethel and Alex Yuhas.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 26, 2015, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Crowe and Pastor Mike Ingole officiating.

Burial will follow in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Dan's name to the Irondale United Methodist Church, 75 Grant Street, Irondale, OH 43932.
