Daniel R. "Danny" Cataldo

WELLSVILLE - Daniel R. "Danny" Cataldo, 80, of Wellsville, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman.

He was born February 18, 1935, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Daniel and Catherine (Natale) Cataldo. In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine Volino, and eight brothers: John, Sam, Albert, William, Patsy, Tony, Joe, and Emil Cataldo.

Dan graduated from Wellsville High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed as an electrician for the former Crucible Steel Mill before retiring in 1982. He was a member of the American Legion Post 70, Eagles Aerie 772, and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. Dan was Catholic by faith.

Survivors include his longtime companion: Janet L. Birch of Wellsville; two daughters: Crystal D'Amico and her husband, Vic, of Aliquippa, PA, and Pamela Gatrell of Lisbon; one son: Dan Cataldo, Jr. of Rogers; and three sisters: Mary Ciarniello of Poland, Rose Ulizio of Midland, and Fran (Ben) Hipsley of Wellsville. Also surviving are Sarah Novak of Alexandria, VA, whom he raised; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A Catholic Funeral Rite will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Reverend Peter Haladej of Holy Trinity Parish presiding.

Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Roberts Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
