SALINEVILLE - David G. Day, 79, of Salineville, passed away Friday, June 12, 2026, at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born August 4, 1946, in Steubenville, the son of the late Samuel and Pearl Day. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death on April 3, 2026, by his wife, Susan (Lightner) Day, whom he married February 27, 1977. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Judy Day.

After graduating from high school and college, David began a life dedicated to serving others. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp David for two years where he was entrusted with protecting the President of the United States. Even though his full time job was in tool and die for the Chrysler Corporation, David also managed to serve as a police officer with the Leetonia Police Department, an EMT in Damascus, and most recently as a volunteer fireman for the village of Salineville. He also previously owned a gun shop in Leetonia and still found time for his favorite hobby - trains.

Survivors include his children: Sam (Mandy) Day of Columbiana, Terri (Courtland) Kellogg of Salineville, and Mary (Steve) Pruett of Myrtle Beach, SC; as well as seven grandchildren,

According to David's wishes, no services will be held.

Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville has been entrusted with assisting the family with his arrangements.
