Dino A. Goleno

WELLSVILLE - Dino A. Goleno, 89, of Wellsville, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015, at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born September 13, 1925, in Irondale, the son of the late Egidio and Theresa (Madonna) Goleno.

He was preceded in death on November 4, 1992, by his wife, Kathleen (Crowe) Goleno, whom he married June 1, 1946. He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Edith Hall, Alberta Duke, and Zella Peloso; and four brothers: Robert, Eli, Arthur, and William Goleno.

Dino served in the United States Navy for seven years in two enlistments during World War II and the Normandy Invasion. He was employed for thirty-two years as a mine foreman for Buckeye Works before retiring in the 1990s. He was also employed at HK Porter Refractories in Irondale and Wellsville, worked at the clay mine on State Route 45, and most recently was employed as a supervisor for the Columbiana Metropolitan Housing Authority before retiring at age 76.

Survivors include one daughter: Kathy Bias and her husband, Glenn, of Industry, PA; one son: Michael Goleno of Ft. Walton Beach, FL.; and one sister: Effie Unkefer of Colton, CA. He is also survived by three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 23, 2015, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Alan Boone officiating. The funeral home will be open at 9:00 am.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

Burial will be in Hammondsville Cemetery.
