Donald P. Dodson

WELLSVILLE - Donald P. Dodson, 74, of Hillcrest Road in Wellsville, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, in the emergency room at East Liverpool City Hospital.

He was born January 26, 1938, in Harrisburg, PA, the son of the late Raymond C. and Florence B. (Libengood) Dodson.

Donald graduated in 1955 from John Harris High School in Harrisburg, PA. He served in the U.S. Air Force until his retirement in 1975. He was then employed in contracting for the Department Of Veterans Affairs. Following his retirement in 1992, Mr. and Mrs. Dodson relocated to the Wellsville area. Donald was a life member of the Wellsville Elks Lodge 1040, a past member of the Wellsville VFW Post 5647, and a member of the Ford Anglia 105E Owners Club. He served for four years as a board member of the Columbiana County MRDD, as well as volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program in East Liverpool.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Jackson-Varner) Dodson, whom he married November 17, 1964; one daughter: Dana Colella of Wellsville; one son: Darren Dodson and his wife Susan of Negley; four grandchildren: Francesca and Dante Colella of Wellsville, and Kalyn and Kylee Dodson of Plano, TX; three step-grandchildren: Heather DeFilippo, Kyle Matthew and J.T. Thomas, all of Negley.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by two sisters: Sarah Wolfe and Connie Swartz; and two brothers: Robert and Richard Dodson.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Wellsville Church of the Nazarene officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the Tri-State Burial Group.

Burial will take place in Rolling Green Memorial Gardens, Camp Hill, PA.

The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
