WELLSVILLE - Donna Jean Byers, 90, of Wellsville, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born July 19, 1935, in Empire, the daughter of the late Newton and Etta (Keenan) Piatt. In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death on April 4, 2008, by her husband, James Gordon Byers, Sr., whom she married October 13, 1953. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Jo Byers, and her brothers: Jimmy, Leroy, and Raymond Piatt.

Donna graduated from Toronto High School in 1953. She was a familiar friendly face at the former Station Market and Bricker's Cafeteria, where she worked as a clerk for many years. Donna was a member of Wellsville First Christian Church where she had previously been a dedicated youth group leader. She formed lifelong bonds with many of the children she led, and those were relationships that Donna cherished.

Survivors include her children:  James (Debbie) Byers, Jr. of Middleburgh, FL, Danny Byers of Enterprise, AL, and Sherri (Dennis) Adams of Wellsville.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Laura (Fred) Plum, James "Jimmy" (Doran) Byers III, Daniel Byers, Brian (Jannell) Adams, Brandon (Lauren) Adams, Kayla (Scott Joy) Adams, Emily Willis, and Ronnie Mann; as well as eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the church officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit from 3:00 - 6:00 pm on Friday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
