EAST LIVERPOOL - Dorothy L. Brookes, 79, of East Liverpool, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, at her home.

She was born February 11, 1947, in Petersburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Harold L. and Gladys (Crider) Bishop. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death on August 24, 2014, by her husband, George Brookes, Sr., whom she married May 23, 1969. She was also preceded in death by her son, George Brookes, Jr.; one sister, Joyce McLaughlin; and two brothers: Harry and Clarence Bishop.

Dorothy grew up in Hookstown, Pennsylvania, and she graduated from South Side High School in 1965. She was previously employed as a front end customer service clerk for Giant Eagle in Calcutta.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Brookes of East Liverpool; daughter-in-law, Michelle Brookes of Wellsville; and one sister: Peg (Jim) McCoy of Hookstown, PA. Also surviving are two grandchildren: Sean (Cheyenne Koren) Hudson and Aubrey Brookes; as well as one great-grandchild, Emry Hudson, with another one on the way.

A committal service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Calcutta Cemetery, 16123 St. Clair Ave., with Pastor Rick Anderson officiating.

Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville is entrusted with assisting the family with Dorothy's arrangements.
