Dorothy Jane Joy

WELLSVILLE - Dorothy Jane Joy, 82, of Wellsville, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017, after suddenly becoming ill at home.

She was born October 4, 1934, in West Point, the daughter of the late Reed and Alice (Miller) Moore. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death on October 12, 2016, by her husband, David Arnold Joy, whom she married April 28, 1956. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: her twin, Donna Peterson, Ruth Sanford, and Kathy Joy; and one brother, Reed Moore, Jr.

Dorothy graduated from Wellsville High School in 1952 and worked for twenty-two years in the bakery department at Foodland in East Liverpool. She was a longtime member of the Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church where she belonged to Womens Circle, Lamplighters, choir, and bell chimes.

Survivors include three daughters: Diane (Skip) Johnson of Wellsville, Cathy (Mike) Reed of Wellsville, and Michelle (companion Jerry) Joy of Marysville, OH; three sons: David (Pam) Joy of Wellsville, Frank (Jane) Joy of Wellsville, and Don (fiancée Gretchen) Joy of Wellsville; and one brother, William Moore of Calcutta. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 8:00 pm Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church officiating.

Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 pm Saturday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations be made in Dorothy's name to Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church, 17365 State Route 45, Wellsville, Ohio 43968.
