Erma M. Jones

WELLSVILLE - Erma M. Jones, 103, of Wellsville, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Calcutta Health Care Center.

She was born September 13, 1913, in Toronto, OH, the daughter of the late Richard and Malvina (Smith) Lyle. In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death in 1988 by her husband, Alfred Jones, whom she married February 4, 1941. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Marjorie Claire; three sons: Walter Brooks, Richard Brooks, and Albert Jones; three sisters: Mildred Parker, Weedie Lyle, and Cybil Littlejohn; and one brother, Cecil Lyle.

Erma graduated from Toronto High School in 1930. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and sister. She was a member of Quinn AME Church and attended Second Baptist Church in Steubenville and Lee's Chapel AME in Wellsville.

Survivors include one daughter: Lylene Trower of Cleveland; and two sons: Terry John Jones and his wife, Peet, of Wellsville, and E. Paul Jones and his wife, Debbie, of Milwaukee, WI. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Orville Gainer of M.A.S.H. Ministries New Life Center in Cleveland officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Steubenville.
