WELLSVILLE - Eugene Michael Bonifate, 82, of Wellsville, passed away Monday, September 28, 2026, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born August 14, 1944, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late James and Joanna (Cenname) Bonifate. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his grandson, Preston, and his brothers: Robert and Gregory Bonifate.

Michael graduated from Peabody High School in Pittsburgh in 1962 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966 where he was an AC radio repairman. Michael's knack for working on electronics served him well in his career in electronic instrumentation at the Beaver Valley Power Station where he repaired all of the electrical instruments. He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville and most recently attended Sacred Heart Church in Chester.

A man of varied interests, Michael had many passions and hobbies in life. He loved radios, photography, and astronomy. He enjoyed perusing flea markets and attending car shows. Michael loved music, especially the Beatles, oldies, and doo wop. He had a soft spot for animals and was known to bring home a rescue cat or two. He enjoyed a good conversation and never knew a stranger. Above all else, Michael was a family man who cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Beth DeLauder Bonifate, whom he married June 3, 1989; children: Marc (Laura) Bonifate of Navarre, FL, Colleen (Jeff) Linenberger of Fayetteville, NC, Christopher (Lydia) Bonifate of Ellwood City, PA, and Cathy (Dewey) Davis of Erie, PA; and one brother, Gerald (Jeanne) Bonifate of Wesley Chapel, FL. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren: Bridget, Vincent, Gwyneth "Ivy", Kathryn, Angelina, Juliette, Makenzie, Zoe, Gianni, Gannon, and Adia.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Wellsville First Christian Church with Pastor Mark Blakeley officiating.

Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will accord full military honors.

Family and friends may visit from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Thursday at the Wellsville First Christian Church, 831 Main Street in Wellsville.

Michael is deeply loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
