Ferne A. Peterson

WELLSVILLE - Ferne A. Peterson, 82, of Wellsville, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021, at East Liverpool City Hospital.

She was born January 29, 1939, in Pedro, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Flora (Baise) Waugh. In addition to her parents, Ferne was preceded in death on April 22, 2016, by her husband, Walter E. "Pete" Peterson, whom she married October 4, 1971. She was also preceded in death in 2007 by her son, Jimmy Engle; and three brothers: Dean, Roy, and Junior Waugh.

Ferne graduated from Minerva High School and was employed as an office clerk at the former Stacey's IGA in Toronto. Ferne was a member of the Wellsville Eagles Aerie 772.

Survivors include four daughters: Teresa Latynski of Wellsville, Beverly Pucci and her husband, Victor, of Wellsville, Patty McAdoo of Wellsville, and Marsha Casey of Erwin, TN; one son, Donnie Engle and his wife, Barbara, of Wellsville, and three sisters: Wilma Lippincott of Delroy, OH, Evelyn Phillips of Minerva, OH, and Janice Phillips and her husband, Joe, of Maryland. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as her dog companion, Baby.

Family and friends may call from 4:00-8:00 pm on Monday, May 17, 2021, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville. Face masks are requested to be worn while in the funeral home.

A private family funeral service will be held with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church officiating.

Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
