Dr. Frank Rivelle

WELLSVILLE – Dr. Frank Rivelle, 83, of Wellsville, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, in the emergency room at East Liverpool City Hospital.

Frank was born January 2, 1933, in Wellsville , the son of the late Dominic and Ann (Fusco) Rivelle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on January 8, 2016, by his wife, Roxann E. "Stormy" (Erlitz) Rivelle, whom he married August 30, 1958, and by his sister, Mary DeSenze.

Frank graduated from Wellsville High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Frank was a patrolman for the Ohio State Highway Patrol before entering the Ohio State University School of Dentistry. Dr. Rivelle owned and operated his family dental practice in Wellsville until his retirement. Frank was member of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville and then Holy Trinity Parish in East Liverpool. He served on the Wellsville Board of Education, Columbiana County Mental Health Board, Robert Bycroft Board of Directors, and the Northeast Regional Dental Board. He was a professor of dentistry at the-Ohio State University School of Dentistry and served as president of the State of Ohio Dental Board. Other civic organizations to which Frank belonged include the former Wellsville Kiwanis Club and the Wellsville Sons Of Italy Lodge 657. He was named as a Wellsville Legend as well as Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year.

Survivors include one daughter: Anne Cartwright and her husband, Jerry, of Wellsville; one son: Frank Rivelle and his wife, Renee, of Columbus; three sisters: Rose Granito of Midland, Lucille Drago of Wellsville, and Mary Ann Kennedy and her husband, Kim, of East Liverpool; and one brother: Nick Rivelle and his wife, JoAnn, of Midland. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Domenica, Jace, Braden, and Greta Cartwright, and Frankie, Isabella, and Olivia Rivelle; and one step-grandson: Luke Cartwright. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews.

The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at St. Aloysius at Holy Trinity Parish with Reverend Melvin Rusnik presiding.

Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.

Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
