WELLSVILLE - Frank J. Roberts, 99, of Wellsville, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023, at East Liverpool City Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 17, 1924, in Wellsville, the son of the late Antonio and Francesca (Capparotta) Roberto. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death on February 19, 2016, by his wife, Jacqueline (Moor) Roberts, whom he married February 15, 1951. He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Sadie Surace, Mary DeSarro, and Helen Pugliano; and three brothers: James, Louis, and Michael Roberts.

Frank graduated from Wellsville High School in 1943. He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946 during World War II.  Frank was employed for thirty-two years as an inspector for the former Crucible Steel Mill before retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 507, Wellsville SOI, VFW 5647, and he served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus from 1966-1968. Frank was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish of East Liverpool.

Survivors include two daughters: Suzy (John) Brdar of Massillon and Jacqueline (Frank) DeSarro of New Waterford; and four sons: James "Kit" Roberto of Lisbon, Frank "Butch" Roberto, Jr. of Columbus, Rick (Penny) Roberto of North Canton, and John Roberto of Steubenville. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

A Rite of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 235 West Fifth Street, East Liverpool, with Rev. Leo Wehrlin of the church officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery where the Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors.
