Frank David Thompson, Jr.

WELLSVILLE - Frank David Thompson Jr., 81, of Wellsville, passed away on February 20, 2019, following a recent illness.

David was born in Wellsville on May 3, 1937, to the late Mary Edda (Layne) and Frank Thompson, Sr. He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1956. He worked for twenty-six years at the former Crucible Steel Mill before his retirement in 1982. Dave married Beverly Stevenson on June 11, 1960. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and hanging out on his front porch. If he called you "sucka", he was very fond of you!

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by four brothers: Alvan E. "Dopsey" Thompson, John Neal Thompson, Terry "Skeekie" Thompson, and William "Bill" Thompson; and one sister, Janis Moxley.

David is survived by his wife, Beverly Jean, at home; and two daughters: Dawn (Paul) Howard and Vida (Perry) Thompson, both of Wellsville. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Christina (Tim) Kirkland of Midland, Davina (David) Thompson of East Liverpool, Shante' Thompson of Midland, Par'ris Fluker of Charlotte, NC, and Perry Fluker of Wellsville. There are seven great-grandchildren: Josiah, Ja'von, Ja'lae, Jeremiah, Ja'miah, Makayla, and Lyric.

Also surviving are David's siblings: Mona Wilson, Carol Thompson, and Kaye (Milton) Wolfe, all of Wellsville, Martin Thompson of St. Clairsville, Michael (Diane) Thompson of East Liverpool, and Olivia Thompson of Painesville. One uncle, Chester "Leon" Layne, also survives.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the First Baptist Church, 1401 Center Street in Wellsville with Minister Daniel Winston officiating.

Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville is entrusted with David's arrangements.
