WELLSVILLE - Garnet I. Smith, 90, of Wellsville, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at The Orchards of East Liverpool.

She was born September 16, 1935, in West Virginia, the daughter of the late Brooks and Lillie (Casto) Mayfield. In addition to her parents, Garnet was preceded in death on September 13, 2015, by her husband, Jack Smith, whom she married June 12, 1953. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Debra Lee Smith; her grandson, Jack Smith III; and brothers and sisters.

Garnet attended East Liverpool High School. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends in several card clubs and socializing with the ladies in Wellsville Tops. She was a member of Wellsville First Christian Church.

Survivors include her children: Jack (Kim) Smith II of Scott Depot, WV, Jill Smith of East Liverpool, and Susie (Doug) Carr of Wellsville; one brother, Ralph (Donna) Mayfield; six grandchildren: Steve Yanni, Heidi Bourne, Doug Carr, Dustin Carr, Tyler Smith, and Gage Ramos; and six great-grandchildren: Braylen, Macie, Dani, Aydin, Cheyann, and Michael.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Wellsville First Christian Church with Pastor DaveGoodman officiating.

Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm on Saturday at the Wellsville First Christian Church, 831 Main Street in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Garnet's name to the Wellsville First Christian Church.

Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville is entrusted with Garnet's arrangements.
