Gerald Jacob Serafy

WELLSVILLE - Gerald Jacob "Jerry" Serafy, 77, of Wellsville, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019, at Salem Regional Medical Center.

He was born September 23, 1941, in Wellsville, the son of the late Walter and Emma Alberta (Cunningham) Serafy. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Barnes.

Jerry attended Beaver Local High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1967 during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the Navy, Jerry became a train dispatcher for the railroad until his retirement.

Survivors include his brother, Lawrence Serafy and his wife, Norma, of Wellsville; one niece, Terry Joy of Cartersville, GA; and one nephew, Larry Serafy of Wellsville.

The funeral service will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Irv Hoover of the Wellsville First Christian Church officiating. The Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors prior to the service.

Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1:00-3:00 pm and 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
