Gina Renee Amato

WELLSVILLE - Gina Renee Amato, 51, of Wellsville, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019.

She was born February 1, 1967, in East Liverpool, the daughter of Irma (Johnson) Amato of Wellsville and the late Charles F. "Chuck" Amato. In addition to her father, Gina was preceded in death on March 2, 2013, by her son, Michael Amato-Kapp, and by her brother-in-law, Joseph Scarabino.

Gina graduated from Wellsville High School in 1985. She was currently employed as a waitress at Olive Garden in Robinson Town Center. She had previously been employed as a corrections officer for the Columbiana County Jail and as a dispatcher for the East Liverpool Police Department. Gina was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Chester and the former Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville.

Above all else, Gina was an outgoing woman with a wonderful personality who never knew a stranger. She had a big heart and always wanted to help others. After the death of her son, Michael, Gina was always the first person to extend her love and support to other families who were grieving the loss of a loved one due to a tragedy. She put her family first and loved them fiercely. Gina also had a huge place in her heart for animals, and she will be missed by her furry friends, Sammy and Leo.

Survivors include her son, Christian Amato-Kapp and his companion, Shelbie Householder, of Wellsville; one sister, Cynthia Scarabino of Wellsville; and two brothers: Attorney Nicholas Amato and his wife, Anne, of Calcutta, and Attorney Charles C. "Chris" Amato and his wife, Courtney, of Wellsville. Gina will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephew: Nicholas Amato and his companion, Crystal Kind, Noelle Amato, Angelica Scarabino, Maia and Alana Amato, and Gia Elkobi-Amato; and her great-nephew, Nicolas Amato.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 18, 2019, at the Sacred Heart Church, 418 4th Street in Chester, WV, with Rev. Jeeson Stephan of the church officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
