Harold H. "Butch" Hancock

WELLSVILLE - Harold H. "Butch" Hancock, 79, of Wellsville, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017, at home.

He was born August 9, 1937, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Harold N. and Sarah (Risden) Hancock. In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary "Betty" Wirag and Donna Noland; and two brothers: Don and George Hancock.

Butch graduated from Wellsville High School in 1955 and served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was employed as an engineer for Conrail before retiring in 1999. Butch was a member of Elks Lodge 1040, Masonic Lodge F&AM 180, and had attended Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nianne (Dilley) Hancock, whom he married September 11, 1998; four daughters: Lisa Hudson and her husband, Dave, of Hammondsville, Dana Arnette of Wellsville, Zina Hancock of New Cumberland, WV, and Heather Brown of Wellsville; one son, Randy Friess of East Liverpool; two sisters: Gladys Renicker and her husband, Joe, of Columbus, and Sondra Hicks of Hubbard; and one step-daughter: Pam Broughton and her husband, Mike, of Killean, TX. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church officiating. The Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors.

Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
