Howard Lee Powell, Jr.

EAST LIVERPOOL - Howard Lee Powell, Jr., 78, of East Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Trinity West Medical Center.

He was born November 30, 1943, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Martha L. (Stone) and Howard L. Powell, Sr.

Howard graduated from Wellsville High School in 1962, and he served in the United States Air Force as a pararescuer from 1962-1966. He obtained his degree from Kent State University where he majored in education. Howard had been employed as a teacher in the East Liverpool School District until his retirement in 2009. He was an avid gardener and reader, and he enjoyed spending time with Sondra and his family as well as his loving dog, Skippy.

Survivors include his companion, Sondra (Jones) Powell; one daughter, Wendy (Lonnie) Fields of Salineville; two sons: Chuckie Powell (Teresa Hawk) of Wellsville and Stacey (Alice) Powell of Franfort, Maine; and nine grandchildren: Jocelyn (Chris) Ray, Kaylyn (Lacey Murphy) Manley, Dr. William (Amanda) Bauer, Cierra Powell, Dakota Powell, Amber Daniels, Joshua (Maria) Powell, Jacob (Meg) Powell, and Ben Powell. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may call from 2:00-4:00 pm on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville. The Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors at 4:00 pm.
