WELLSVILLE - Hugh Lee "Dewey" Johnston, 61, of Wellsville, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023, at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, PA.

He was born December 23, 1961, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Eugene "Gene" and Mary (Martin) Johnston. In addition to his parents, Dewey was preceded in death by his son, Mathugh Johnston, and his sister, Edith Odroneic.

Dewey owned and operated Johnston's Auto Body in Wellsville. He was a former member of the Wellsville American Legion Post 70 and Wellsville Elks Lodge 1040. Dewey was Christian by faith. He enjoyed golfing and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes. Above all else, he enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, which often included cracking a cold beer.

Survivors include his wife, Julie (Mercer) Johnston, whom he married May 11, 1991; his son, Blake Johnston of Sierra Vista, AZ; and four siblings: Dorothea "Dottie" Betz of Wellsville, Trudy (Todd) Wright of Clearwater, FL, Jeanie (Dick) Bowersock of Wellsville, and Paul (Cindy) Johnston of Wellsville.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville, with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church officiating. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
