James A. "Sparky" Miller

WELLSVILLE - James A. "Sparky" Miller, 70, of Wellsville, went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at East Liverpool City Hospital after suffering from a lengthy illness.

He was born August 5, 1946, in Wellsville, the son of the late Birchie and Mildred (Andrews) Miller. In addition to his parents, Sparky was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Sparky graduated from Wellsville High School in 1965. He was a journeyman electrician by trade and also was a certified welder, taught electrical servicing classes at the Joint Vocational School, installed roofing and siding, and repaired and installed furnaces. Sparky loved golfing, chess, technology, and computers. He dedicated the majority of his later years to the creation and development of the Wellsville Alumni website. He also volunteered his time and computer skills to the Wellsville Police and Fire Departments.

He leaves behind his loving wife of forty-five years, Barbara (Roberts) Miller, whom he married September 25, 1971; two daughters: Melissa (Kay) Miller of Wellsville and Susan Pucci of Horseheads, NY; three sons: James Stewart of East Liverpool, James (Kim) Miller of East Liverpool, and Charles (Michelle) Miller of TX; one sister: Tina (Mick) Call of Howard, OH; and two brothers: Rodger (Diane) Miller of Wellsville and Chip (Janet) Mick of Toronto. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Friday, January 20, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street, in Wellsville.

The funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday at the Roberts Funeral Home with

The Reverend Judith Scott and Reverend Kenneth Maylone presiding.

Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the fifth floor nursing staff at East Liverpool City Hospital and Hospice of the Valley for their care and compassion during this most difficult time.
