James E. Porter II

HAMPTON, VIRGINIA - James E. "Slim Jim" Porter II, 35, of Hampton, VA, formerly of Wellsville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 11, 2016, at his home following an apparent heart attack.

He was born February 23, 1981, in Salem, the son of Sue Ann (Lanam) Lynn, and her husband, Tom, of Wellsville, and the late James E. Porter. In addition to his father, Slim Jim was preceded in death by one step-brother, Victor Lynn.

Slim Jim graduated from Wellsville High School in 1999 and Pittsburgh Technical Institute in 2001. He was employed as a computer draftsman for Huntington Ingalls Industries and 5 Linx Enterprises. He was an avid fan of Jamboree in the Hills and enjoyed hunting. Slim Jim was Methodist by faith.

In addition to his mom and step-dad, Slim Jim is survived by two sisters: Tara (Kevin) Bonfils of Columbus, and Courtney Porter of Columbus; and one step-brother: Rob (Alicia) Lynn of Austintown.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm today, July 16, 2016, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church officiating.
