James William Rodgers

HAMMONDSVILLE - James William "Pappy" Rodgers, 84, of Hammondsville, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at home.

He was born July 10, 1929, in East Liverpool, the son of the late John W. and Elizabeth (Kozora) Rodgers.

Jim was employed for eighteen years in the maintenance department for the Ohio Edison Sammis Plant, before retiring in 1991. He had also been employed as a mine foreman for nineteen years in the clay mine for the former Dando Brickyard. Jim was a member of the Masons Lodge 471 in Irondale and the 32nd Degree AARS in Steubenville. He attended Pine Grove Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Norma (Adams) Rodgers, whom he married July 10, 1950; three daughters: Bonnie Willis and her husband, Jeff, of Hammondsville, Terri Mattern and her husband, Kenny, of East Liverpool, and Stacey Willis of Wellsville; one son: Tom Rodgers and his wife, Tanya, of Salineville; one sister: Mildred Porter and her husband, Mark, of Hammondsville; and one brother: Charles Rodgers and his wife, Charlene, of Wellsville. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren: Amy, Tommy, Christy, Josh, Tyler, Travis, Jordan, Jill, Kevin, Cody, and Amya; and seven great-grandchildren: Marcus, Garrett, Autumn, Seth, Moriah, Collin, and Abigail.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his granddaughter: Julie Ann; two sisters: Mary-Ellen Rodgers and Betty Cronin; and two brothers: Elzie and John Rodgers.

A private funeral service will be held today at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Susan Clegg of the Empire United Methodist Church officiating.
