Jana Lou Starkey Lawrence, 89, formerly of Hammondsville, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025.

She was born July 16, 1936, in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Charles and Vena Verna (Ward) Starkey.

In addition to her parents, Jana was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John T. Lawrence, an Army Veteran, whom she married December 6, 1954.

She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Austin M. Lawrence.

Survivors include her children: Judith (Robert) Urich of Irondale, Karen (Gary) Mitchell of Wellsville, Sharon (Mark) Klavuhn of Wellsville, and John Lawrence of South Dakota. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Jessica (Paul) Jones, Brad (Jamie) Mitchell, Rachel (Nate) Davis, Sara (CJ) Diequez, Emily Urich, and Shane Lawrence; five great-grandsons: Tanner Jones, Brock and Drake Davis, Ryder Diequez, and Jacob Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews from Ohio and Florida.

In addition to her parents, husband, and grandson, Jana was preceded in death by her siblings: Kathryn Geisse, Elizabeth Fryman, Charles Starkey, LeRoy Starkey, Jack Starkey, Walter Starkey, and Jerry Starkey.

Jana graduated from Wellsville High School 1954 and was previously employed as a clerk for Valley Market in Hammondsville. She was a member of Hammondsville United Methodist Church and Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church where she was also a Lamplighter.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Cunningham of Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Hammondsville Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm on Monday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

A very special thank you to Crossroads at Beaver Creek Assisted Living for making Jana's last few years a special place to call her home. She was treated with such care and respect. The entire staff catered to her and all of the other residents. She had a full calendar of events to attend several times a day which she always looked forward to. She was so happy to be there and loved all her new friends. God bless each of you for having such caring hearts.
