Janet M. Blakeley

SALEM - Janet M. Blakeley, 93, of Salem, formerly of Irondale, died Monday, June 25, 2012, in the emergency room at Salem Community Hospital.

She was born March 10, 1919, in Irondale, the daughter of the late Harold D. and Martha Jane (Davis) Gill.

Janet was a 1937 graduate of Irondale High School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Salem. Along with her husband, she owned and operated the former Frost Top Ice Cream Parlor in Salem, before retiring in 1981.

Survivors include one daughter: Nancy Miller of Lisbon; one son: James E. Hood, Jr. of Austintown; one sister: Jane E. (Quenton) Henderson of Carrollton; one Grandson, Brooks Davis of Salem and two great grandsons, Owen Davis and Emerson Davis, both of Salem; a Sister-in-law, Jean (Gill) Grimm of Toronto, and several nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Frank I. Blakeley, on February 21, 2000, whom she married December 21, 1958, along with two brothers, James W. Gill and Joseph R. Gill.

The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, June 29th, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main St., Wellsville, with Rev. P. Doug George, of the church officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Hammondsville.
