Virginia Beach - Janet Floreine Broderick died peacefully April 9, 2012, at home in Virginia Beach.

She was born August 17, 1918, in Butler, PA. She was the oldest of thirteen children born to Dewey and Hazel Stillwagon.

She moved to Wellsville, OH, after marrying the love of her life, Edward. Before retiring from the City Loan Company, she was very active and involved in the Women's Civic Club, the Lady Elks, card clubs, and Arts Club. She served on the Board of Education for eight years, and was Chairman of the March of Dimes for twenty years. She also ran for office in City Council. She participated in minstrels, the Little Theater, and style shows. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Her pastimes were sewing, reading, enjoying big band music, and dancing with Ed. She was always a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Floreine moved to Virginia Beach three years ago and became a member of the Red Hat Society, where she was known at the "Queen Bee".

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law: Janet and Gary Smith of Virginia Beach; her daughter-in-law: Maria Broderick of Bellaire, OH; six grandchildren: Brent (Sandy) Broderick of Oregonia, OH, Jennifer (Craig) Connors of Williamsburg, VA, Kellie (Tom) Hayden of Gulf Breeze, FL, Gretchen (Tommy) Maloney of Virginia Beach, and Nathan and Kerrie Broderick of Bellaire, OH; and seven great-grandchildren: Abbey, Gwendolyn, Tanner, Sophia, Hunter, Amelia, and Aiden. Also surviving are two brothers: Duane (Ceil) Stillwagon of Ocala, FL, and Tom (Janet) Stillwagon of Venice, FL; one sister: Linda (Carl) Notarianni of Monaca, PA; and many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Broderick, her son Edward "Skip" Broderick, three brothers, and six sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, November 23, 2012, at the First Christian Church in Wellsville. A private burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 831 Main Street in Wellsville, OH 43968.
