WELLSVILLE - Jerry Ray Hays, 68, of Wellsville, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 22, 1956, in East Liverpool, Ohio, the son of the late Robert and Kathleen "Kay" (Rager) Hays. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by an infant sister, Beth Ann Hays, and two brothers: William Hays, Jr. and Jay Hays.

Ray graduated from Southern Local High School in 1974. He was employed for thirty-five years as a distribution lineman for American Electric Power in Steubenville. He was a member of Bethel United Presbyterian Church, serving as past trustee, current member of the Session, and chairman of the Cemetery Board for thirty-one years. He was also a member of the Salineville Masonic Lodge #348, serving as Worshipful Master for three years and secretary for thirty-one years. Ray also served as Past High Priest of East Liverpool Chapter #100, and he was a member of Keromas Council #95 in East Liverpool and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason of Valley of Steubenville. Ray was also a member of the East Liverpool Elks Lodge #258.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-five years, Cindy (McCullough) Hays, whom he married October 28, 1989, and a very special young man, Lucas Huff (Rebecca Possage), who resided with Ray and Cindy. Also surviving are two brothers: Dean (Dana) Hays of Lima, OH and Jon (Lisa) Hays of East Liverpool.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Swail of the church officiating.

Burial will follow in Bethel United Presbyterian Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 3:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville. The Salineville Masonic Lodge #348 will be conducting masonic services at 7:30 pm.
