John E. "Jack" Call

WELLSVILLE - John E. "Jack" Call, 75, of Wellsville, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness.

He was born August 5, 1938, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Elmer S. "Ike" and Martha E. (Ensinger) Call. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Dorothy Call.

Jack graduated from Wellsville High School in 1956 and then served in the United States Army. He had been previously employed for over thirty years as a furnace operator for the former Crucible Steel Mill before retiring in 1982. He was also employed as a supervisor for Earth Tech and most recently as an associate at Roberts Funeral Home. Jack was an asset to his community in many ways, including serving as a firefighter for the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department, serving as a village councilman and on the zoning commission, and he was the service director of Wellsville under former mayor Nunzio Lombardozzi. He also served on the board of directors for Buckeye Water District and was the secretary of the Columbiana County Officials' Association. He was a member of the Wellsville Hall of Fame Committee, Wellsville Elks Lodge 1040, VFW Post 5647, and American Legion Post 70. Jack was an avid golfer and baseball fanatic. He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalie (Fusco) Call, whom he married June 25, 1960; one daughter: Lori A. Call of Wellsville; one son: Scott Call and his wife, Sharon, of Wellsville; one sister: Peggy Bloor of East Liverpool; one granddaughter: Jonna Call of Wellsville; and two grandsons: Michael and Sonny Call, both of Wellsville.

The funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, July 25, 2014, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Jack's cousin, Pastor Brad Call, officiating.

Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00-6:00 pm Friday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
