John L. Cassidy

SALINEVILLE - John L. Cassidy, 86, of Salineville, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Continuing Healthcare of Lisbon.

He was born April 8, 1936, in Cadiz, Ohio, the son of the late John L. and Georgia Anna (Hoagland) Cassidy. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death on January 2, 2021, by his wife, Edna Jean (Board) Cassidy, whom he married October 23, 1954. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Harold and George Cassidy.

John was a heavy equipment operator for area strip mines before becoming a coal miner for Valley Camp Coal in Wellsburg, WV. After his retirement in 1982, John delivered papers for The Morning Journal and The Review. At any given time, you could find him working in the yard, remodeling houses or repairing vehicles. He attended the Church of God in East Liverpool. John's favorite hobby was spending time with his grandkids. His family was his life.

Survivors include five daughters: Carol Sue (Daniel) Stolirchick, Kathy (David) Grimm, Pamela (Scott) Kelly, and Michele (Timothy) Koffman, all of Salineville, and Kelly (Scott) Wetzel of Wellsville; two sons: John B. (Roxanne) Cassidy of Wooster and Keith Cassidy of Salineville; and one sister, Carla Buchanan of Carrollton. John is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Chashen of the Lisbon Assembly of God officiating.

Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Salineville.

Friends may call from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm on Saturday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
