John "Jack" Rowan Reed

WELLSVILLE - John "Jack" Rowan Reed, 81, of Wellsville, died Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Tomball Kindred Hospital in Tomball, Texas.

He was born November 4, 1930, in Alliance, OH, the son of the late Harry and Leona Faye (Donaldson) Reed.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Zelma (Kelly) Reed, whom he married in 1963.

He was employed for twenty-nine years as a potter in the slip house for Ferro Corporation, before retiring in 1994. John was a member of the Wellsville Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include two daughters: Marla Reed of Cleveland and Leona Reed of Wellsville; two sons: James Groves of Wellsville and John Reed of Houston, TX; and one brother: King Reed of Elkton, OH. Also surviving are four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by three sisters: Patricia Williamson, Betty Reed, and Sherri Reed; and six brothers: Chuck, Bob, Earl, George, Bud, and Donald Reed.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
