WELLSVILLE - John Joseph Traina, 89, of Wellsville, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville.

He was born November 25, 1935, in Wellsville, the son of the late Alfonso and Josephine (Marchese) Traina. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Traina; and three sisters: Ann Bucher, Jennie Alfano, and Josephine Jordan.

John graduated from Wellsville High School in 1953 and served in the United States Army from 1954 - 1956. He was previously employed as a control room operator for Ohio Edison. John also owned and operated Traina's Barber Shop in Wellsville for 68 years. He was a member of the Wellsville SOI Lodge 657 and a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jean (Sullivan) Traina, whom he married July 13, 1957; sons: Alfonse Traina of Wellsville and John (Kathy) Traina of Bay Village, OH; daughter, Nancy (Kevin) Rawson of Lisbon; daughter-in-law, Lori Traina of Wellsville; and two sisters: Phyllis Mick of East Liverpool and Rose (Hank) Powell of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

According to John's wishes, no services will be held.

Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.

Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville is entrusted with John's arrangements.
