Joseph C. Lyle

WELLSVILLE - Joseph C. Lyle, 87, of Wellsville, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021, at his home.

He was born December 21, 1933, in Glenmoor, a son of the late James O. and Sylvia (Dawson) Lyle. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death on August 8, 2016, by his wife, Elsie R. (Grodhaus) Lyle, whom he married December 31, 1953. Joe came from a large family, having had six brothers and sisters and five half-brothers and half-sisters.

Joe attended East Liverpool High School. He was employed for forty-four years as a diesel locomotive mechanic for Crucible Steel Mill. Joe enjoyed golfing and playing cards. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially the vacations they took together.

Survivors include three sons: Joseph C. Lyle II and his wife, Cindy, of Wellsville, Rodney Lyle and his wife, Debbie, of Wellsville, and Gary Lyle and his wife, Diana, of Wellsville. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Kelsey (Mike) Canonge, Landon (Shannon) Lyle, Lynsey (Brian) Opalenik, Joshua (Elizabeth) Lyle, Shannon (Joseph) Lucas, and Kaitlyn (William) Barcus; and nine great-grandchildren: Olivia, Cassie, Joey, Garrett, Carson, Niko, Ethan, Luciana, and Henry.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the Wellsville First Christian Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Family and friends may call two hours prior to the service on Tuesday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
