Judith Kay Gormer Brown

WELLSVILLE - Judith Kay Mathers Gormer Brown, 71, of Wellsville, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015, at Calcutta Health Care Center.

She was born June 11, 1944, in Chester, WV, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Elizabeth (Libby) Mathers. Judith leaves behind her ex-husband and caretaker, Donald Brown; a son, Paul David Gormer, of Georgia; two sisters: Wanda Mathers Smith of Georgia and Mary Graham of Minerva, OH; one brother: Perry Joe Mathers of Powhattan Point, OH; and five step-children: Gretchen Brown, Brenda Kersey, Vanessa Brown, Dennis Brown, and Donald Brown. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Ashlee Gormer, Amanda Gormer, and Amie Gormer, all of Georgia; twelve step-grandchildren: Kara, Blain, Austin, Christopher, Willow, Holden, Aaron, Lisa, Donny, Ricci, Jessica, and Josh; and several step-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Judith was preceded in death by her sister: Barbara Nardo; her life-long adopted sister: Patty Talbott; and her two brothers: Kenneth "Sonny" Mathers and Dean S. Reed.

Judith graduated from Wellsville High School in 1963. She was employed at the former Sterling China Company in Wellsville before becoming a homemaker. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW Post 5647 in Wellsville where she enjoyed playing bingo and shuffle board tournaments. She also enjoyed spending summer vacations in Georgia where she spent time with her grandchildren, Amie, Amanda, and Ashlee, and her son, Paul.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday , September 10, 2015, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the Wellsville First Christian Church officiating.

Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
