Judith Kay "Judy" (Shanks) Martin

SALEM - Judith Kay "Judy" (Shanks) Martin, 79, of Salem, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 22, 2023, at her home.

She was born January 28, 1944, in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Mabel (Watkins) and John H. Shanks, Sr. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Ray Phillips, her brother and sister-in-law, Curtis amd Janice Shanks; one sister, Nadyne Underhill; and one great-grandson, Baby John.

Judy graduated from Wellsville High School, and she was previously employed as a home healthcare aide. She had attended Toronto United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters: Diana (John) Vitagliano of Lakeland, FL, and Deborah Phillips of Steubenville; two sons: Tom (Rebecca) Martin of Brilliant, OH, and Tim Martin of Tampa, FL; two sisters: Joyce Morrow of Calcutta, and Sharon (Jim) Webber of Beloit, OH; and two brothers: Darrell (Lois) Shanks of Washington, PA, and John H. (Arlene) Shanks, Jr. of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, including Zeke Elliott Silva, with whom Judy had a special connection.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Miller of the Steel Valley Baptist Church officiating.

Family and friends may call two hours prior to the service on Wednesday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.
