June
Kuhar
Jul 9, 1934 — Oct 6, 2025
HAMMONDSVILLE - Flora "June" Kuhar, 91 passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the home she and her husband built in the 1960's, where her family later added a suite, so she could be cared for in the home she loved.
June was born on July 9, 1934, the daughter of Daniel "Dan" and Maxine (Elliot) Rice. She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1953.
At age 15, she met the love of her life, Andrew "Andy" Kuhar, Sr. After several years together they married on May 5, 1956, and shared 46 years together before his passing in 2002, just three days after their anniversary. Part of June's heart went with him then and she missed him every single day until her passing.
On September 5th, 1965, June and Andy dedicated their lives to Jehovah and were baptized, an experience June always remembered as "COLD pond water" She was faithfully known as one of Jehovah's Witnesses attending the Kingdom Hall in Wellsville and later Lisbon. When her health no longer allowed her to attend in person she always listened in by phone to every meeting.
June and Andy worked side by side in the door-to-door ministry every week. After his passing she carried on the work with her circle of close friends lovingly referred to as the "old lady group," Lila Maye, Sue, Nancy, Ina Yvonne, Jeanette, and Nicky many of whom have since passed. They laughed together, played games, lamented about growing old, and encouraged one another, always united by their faith.
Before her marriage, June enjoyed working at the 5 & 10 in Wellsville and L&B Donuts in East Liverpool. After her marriage she poured herself wholeheartedly into being a wife, mother, and homemaker. She got up early every morning to prepare breakfast for her husband before work and for her children before school and continued to do so while they lived in her home. Dinner was always ready when Andy came home and she never let him eat alone, no matter what time he arrived.
June took enormous pride in her keeping her home spotless. Cleaning wasn't just a chore for her, it was a passion, one her children jokingly called "an obsession". Later in life when arthritis made it nearly impossible it was something she truly missed, up until the very end.
June was a wonderful cook. Her cabbage rolls, learned from her mother-in-law, "Bubba", will especially be missed. Though she never passed that recipe down, she did teach her son Greg how to bake pies, including her famous pecan pie. He cherishes the memories of her small, bent hands, riddled with arthritis showing him how to roll out the dough just so.
June was strong-willed and determined at 90 years old she set a goal to read the entire Bible again and completed it just before her 91st birthday. She clung firmly to the Bible's promise of the resurrection, smiling at the thought of being reunited with her loved ones again. She would often speak of seeing husband Andy, Sr again, her parents, her son, Andy, Jr. cousins (especially Allura), and so many others that she loved and missed.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel "Dan" and Maxine (Elliot) Rice; her husband; Andrew Kuhar, Sr. and her son, Andrew Kuhar Jr.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Brush and Gregory "Greg" Kuhar and his wife Beth (Rolley) Kuhar; and her daughter in law, Dana (Champ) Kuhar. Six grandchildren: Andrea Culp (Steve), Andrew Kuhar III (Jessica), Trevor Brush, Joel Kuhar (Ashlee), Lucas Kuhar, and Susie Tice (Chad); and five great-grandchildren: Emily and Riley Culp, Maverick and Knox Brush, and Elizabeth Donaldson.
Family and friends may visit from 3:00 - 6:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm led by Elder Terrence Smith of Kingdom Hall.
Burial will be in Bethel Presbyterian Cemetery.

A Tribute from Her Son, Greg
How can I sum up 91 years in just a few paragraphs? I don't really know, but I'm sure going to try.
I'll never be one to say mom was perfect, she had her stubborn streak, if you know you know. She got it honest from the Rice and McIntosh genes; we jokingly referred to that stubbornness as "The Revenge of the Rice." She was opinionated and wouldn't hesitate to let you know what she thought, whether you wanted her to or not.
But she loved hard. She loved my dad, us kids, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with her whole heart. She found joy in being a homemaker and poured her whole heart into our family and making our house a home.
If there was one thing everyone knew about Mom, it was her love of cleaning, especially dusting. A quality my brother and I didn't inherit to that degree. We would often tease her and call it an obsession. I can honestly say I've never met another person who loved to dust as much as she did. When her arthritis made it nearly impossible, she longed to pick up that dust rag and do it herself, she even dreamed about dusting.
While she made our house a home more importantly Mom and Dad instilled in us to respect people, work hard, to never think the world owed us anything, and to always be kind. Most importantly they taught me to love Jehovah and do whatever I can to show that love.
There are so many people that have helped mom through the years that I can't possibly name them all. But there are some I have to mention for going above and beyond.
Thank you, Dana, for being there every day when Mom was in respite care.
Thank you to the wonderful staff of Traditions Hospice who cared so tenderly for her.
Thank you to those who sat with her day or night making sure she was never alone.
To Eli and Jackie, thank you for being like another son and daughter to her; and for the joy you and your children brought into her life.
Thank you, Andrea, for taking such loving care of your grandmother and being Beth's right arm.
To my children, thank you for always being willing to drop everything to help in countless ways.
And to my wife, Mom always said there was never another daughter-in-law that would take such good care of their mother-in-law. I couldn't have done it without you.
And lastly, thank you mom! I'm truly going to miss you.
