Kathleen R. "Kay" Hays

SALINEVILLE - Kathleen R. "Kay" Hays, 91, of Salineville, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at St. Mary's Alzheimers Center.

She was born June 23, 1923, in Wellsville, the daughter of the late William and Hallie (Taylor) Rager.

Kay was preceded in death in 2001 by her husband, William Robert Hays, whom she married May 22, 1943.

Kay graduated from Wellsville High School in 1941. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Wellsville and East Liverpool, where she was Worthy Matron of Wellsville in 1970 and Grand Representative of South Carolina in 1977, a member of East Liverpool Social Order of Beauceant, and a member of the Highlandtown/Yellow Creek Grange. She was also a member of Bethel United Presbyterian Church. Kay was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include four sons: Ray Hays and his wife, Cindy, of Wellsville, Dean Hays and his wife, Dana, of Elida, OH, Jay Hays and his wife, Terry, of Salineville, and Jon Hays and his wife, Lisa, of East Liverpool; and one daughter-in-law: Mary Ann (Lanam) Hays of Malvern. Also surviving are six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kay was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Beth Ann Hays, and her son, William Robert Hays.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 25, 2014, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Allmon of Bethesda Presbyterian Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Bethel United Presbyterian Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Kay's name to the W. Robert Hays Memorial Fund, Salineville Alumni Fund c/o Sandra Polen, Salineville, OH 43945.
