SALEM - Larry R. Archer, 79, of Salem, formerly of Wellsville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at his home.

He was born September 19, 1945, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Ronald Archer and Betty (Boyce) Dailey. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his canine companion, Freddy.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps having completed two tours in the 3rd Battalion 4th Marines in Vietnam. He received two purple hearts for his courageous service. He was previously employed for 24 years as a conductor for Conrail before his retirement in 1994. Larry loved to ride Harleys and was a member of multiple motorcycle organizations. He was also a lifetime member of the Wellsville VFW Post 5647. He enjoyed watching movies and hanging out with his beloved dog, Gizmo. Larry was a member of Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include four children: Steve (Shannon) Archer of Salt Lake City, UT, Greg (Lisa) Archer of Salem, Paula Archer of Wellsville,  and Alexis Archer of Salem; his former wife, Heidi (Billingsley) Archer; half-sister, Cathy (Steve) Creaturo of Wellsville; and half-brother, John Dailey. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Jonathan (Faith) Archer, Jordan Archer (Brock), Alex Rockenhauser, Brandon Rockenhauser, and Danielle Archer, as well as five great-grandchildren: Aria, Addi, and Alex Archer, Natalie Baddley, and Braxton Rockenhauser.

Family and friends may call from 3:00 - 6:00 pm on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville. The Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will accord full military honors at 6:00 pm.
