Larry Eugene McCombs

WELLSVILLE - Larry Eugene McCombs, 74, of Wellsville, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023, at home surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born August 28, 1948, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Virginia (Heaton) and Kenneth McCombs, Sr. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death on August 10, 2011, by his wife, Victoria "Vickie" McCombs, whom he married November 19, 1977. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Michelle McCombs; and one brother, Kenneth "Kenny Mac" McCombs.

Larry graduated from Wellsville High School in 1966, and he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He was previously employed as a carpenter for Local Union 171 in Youngstown before his retirement in 2003. Larry enjoyed playing golf and won many local tournaments, and he loved to ride his Harley. He looked forward to his coffee dates at Tim Horton's with his buddies, and he never missed the Friday night drum circle at Sarasota Beach when he was spending time in Florida. Above all else, Larry's favorite thing in the world was spending all the time he could with his two granddaughters.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer (Greg) Polzak of Brooklyn, NY; one son, Jamison (Ashley) McCombs of East Liverpool; two sisters: Judy (Larry) Brewer of Wellsville and Bonnie (Patrick) Doyle of Allen, TX; and one brother, Donald (Paula) McCombs of Sarasota, FL. Also surviving are two granddaughters to whom Larry was "Beach Pappy": Harper Victoria McCombs and Lilith Victoria Polzak. Larry is also survived by his companion, Patty DeSarro DiCioccio, and his mother-in-law, Helen Cataldo.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the Wellsville First Christian Church officiating. The Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors at 1:50 pm.

Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4:00-7:00 pm on Saturday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville, and one hour prior to the service on Sunday.

The family asks that you leave your suit at home and wear red or a Rolling Stones shirt to honor Larry.

In lieu of flowers, Larry would want you to have a nice dinner out with your family and share stories about him.
