Martin Andrew "Mickey" Thompson

WELLSVILLE - Martin Andrew "Mickey" Thompson, 81, of Wellsville, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021, following a brief illness.

He was born April 27, 1939, in Wellsville, the son of the late Mary Edda (Layne) and Frank David Thompson, Sr. In addition to his parents, Mickey was preceded in death by one sister: Janis Moxley; and five brothers: Alvan E. "Dopsey" Thompson, John Neal Thompson, Terry "Skeekie" Thompson, William "Bill" Thompson, and Frank David Thompson, Jr.

Mickey graduated from Wellsville High School in 1957 and obtained an Associates degree in the Arts from Ashland University. He faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force. Mickey was previously employed as a laborer for the cities of Wellsville and Weirton. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include three sisters: Mona Wilson of Wellsville, Kay Wolfe and her husband, Milton, of Wellsville, and Joan Thompson of Sandusky; two brothers: Michael Thompson of East Liverpool, and David "Bug" Thompson and his wife, Brenda, of Wellsville; and three sisters-in-law: Carol Thompson of Wellsville, Bev Thompson of Wellsville, and Olivia Thompson of Painesville. Also surviving is one uncle, Chester "Leon" Layne, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Due the Covid-19 pandemic, a celebration of Mickey's life was held for his family at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville.

Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
