Mary A. Johnston

WELLSVILLE - Mary A. Johnston, 93, of Wellsville, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at her home.

She was born April 22, 1928, in Stratton, the daughter of the late Carl and Minnie (Thrasher) Martin. In addtion to her parents, Mary was preceded in death on February 2, 2009, by her husband, Eugene P. "Gene" Johnston, whom she married October 25, 1947. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Edith Odroneic; one grandson, Mathugh Johnston; one brother, William Martin; one half-brother, Charles Wright; and two sisters: Dorothy Graham and Gussie Grimm.

Mary graduated from Ohio Valley Business College and was Protestant by faith. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Survivors include three daughters: Dorothea "Dottie" Betz and her husband, Thomas, of Wellsville, Trudy Wright and her husband, Todd, of Clearwater, FL, and Jeanie Bowersock and her husband, Richard, of Wellsville; two sons: Paul Johnston and his wife, Cindy, of Wellsville, and Hugh Lee "Dewey" Johnston and his wife, Julie, of Wellsville; two half-sisters: Betty Martin and her husband, Chip, of Stratton, and Carrie Prignace and her husband, Jack, of Steubenville; and one sister-in-law, JoEllen Wright. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
